Tiger mood board

This is my mood board for a White Tiger.  I chose to display the tiger and its habitat.  The colors i chose are the colors of the tiger and his habitat.  The typefaces i chose because they reminded me of a jungle typeface, and the jagged edges of the second and third typeface are fierce  like the tiger.

Making meanings presentation

Animal trace

These 3 photos were pretty simple to trace with pen.  The 3rd on at the bottom was the hardest i had to restart it because i had some technical difficulties.

White tiger

Panthera tigris
  • They weigh 500 or more pounds, males weigh more than females.
  • The head to tail length is 4.5 to 9 ft long.  The tail its self can go from 3-4ft long.
  • White tigers have blue eyes and they have 6 times better sight in the dark than humans.
  • Tigers can expand their claws like house cats.  scratches on trees are how they mark their territory.
  • No two tigers have the same strip pattern.  Siberian tigers have the least amount of strips out of all the other tiger subspecies.
  • In the wild the average life span of a tiger is 10 years, in the zoo it is doubled.
  • Baby tigers are born blind weighing 2-3 lbs.
  • Baby tigers feed on milk for the first 6-8 weeks, after then the mother starts taking them on kills, but they do not start to have their own kills until 18 months.
  • The head often has the Chinese symbol for wang or king on their forehead.
  • Both parents must have a 'white' gene for the babies to be white tigers.  The mother can give birth to up to 5 cubs. The reason they are white is because they have a genetic condition called leucism
  • They are very good swimmers

Habitat-India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, are one of the few places that tigers still are located.  They like to live in tropical forests, mangrove swamps and moist jungles that generally support dense vegetation and have a good source of fresh water.

making meaning

 This is my original.

What i was trying to say in this one was gratification or satisfaction.  The baby is satisfied because his plate is clean and his stomach is full.  The dog is gratified because his owner through the ball and he fetched it.  I wanted to chose a font that portrayed a "good boy" emotion.

This one i chose to use this type face because it reminds me of being at the edge of your seat.  Ravenous also means intensely eager for.  The dog is very eager for his owner to take the ball from him and throw it again.  When the child is very eager to eat some of those delicious cookies.

This one is displaying a longing for or craving food.  The child on the left is longing for his mother to serve dinner.  The right photo shows a child craving something sweet; cookies.  I chose to put the letters in an arrow like position, because when someone longs or craves something they usually go after it.

In this photo i wanted to portray craving.  The dog is craving some attention of someone.  The child on the right is craving some cookies.  I chose to point the word in an arrow towards the top of the screen because the dog is looking up to get someone's attention and the child is reaching up to get some cookies.

This photo shows the child longing for food, and the dog is longing for his owner to throw his ball.  I chose to point the word hankering towards the dog's mouth because both are longing for something that satisfies their mouth.

This one with the three pictures is self explanatory.

Ravenous

These two pictures both show hunger, which is what ravenous means.  The one on the right shows a child's hunger before dinner, they are 'starving' and they cannot wait for dinner.  The one on the left is so hungry that the child needed to lick the plate.  I chose to put the text in a small thin font on the very bottom of the photo because being ravenous means you are to the end of your limits with hunger.  Being at the bottom of the bottle per say.

This is what i wrote for my photos and my peers critiqued it and gave me more comments.  The statements they added were, The right image shows irony, because you don't need cookies but you are so hungry you need to eat something.  They agreed with my placement of the word ravenous and the font i chose.  They also liked the way i spaced out the letters so it made the word look lighter and empty.

picture and words

I chose the word impenetrable because it means hard. These two pictures both show a surface that is hard.  I chose to put impenetrable in the middle and in all caps and in a large bold font because being impenetrable means strong and not easy to break.  This font and placement reminded me of strong.

For these two photos i wanted a word that was playful and childlike just like the pictures.  The word i chose was jejune which means childish, playful, or immature.  I chose to put it in a playful font also so i chose the font critters std because it is fun and childlike.

The word i chose for these photos is conqueror but i am going to change it to nonpareil which mean model of perfection.  In the right picture the child is modeled at the perfect child because he likes broccoli which most children do not.  The picture on the left the classroom is modeled as perfect.  The teacher is teaching the children are listening.  Although the children look a little less than perfect because they do not look to happy to prepared for the test.  I chose to put the word in bold and right in the middle because these are strong achievements.

Enthral means captivate, grab or draw attention. In the picture on the left the child is captivated by what is happening in the cup.  On the left the child looks like someone is grabbing or drawing her attention with something.  I chose to make the font an interesting mesmerizing font that could draw your attention like the children in the pictures.

The first thing i thought of doing is removing the words under this image and creating a new caption.  Such as "Bread man the new hero in town."  And perhaps add a cape to his outfit. If i would change the object he is holding like into binoculars, then he would look like he is bird watching or getting a closer look on something.  I could also change the piece of bred into glasses and then it could be a advertisement for glasses.

When i saw this photo the first thing i thought of was "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?" But really this picture is saying to teach your children right from wrong.  I could change the words to the stolen cookie song, and then it would be more like a picture of getting caught in the act.  Or maybe i change the object she is grabbing out of the jar.  I could change it into a change jar, and there is a money bandit on the loose.

This little girl is supposed to be modeling the fact that the laundry detergent does not irritate her sensitive skin.  But if we change the product on the bottom and put some pull ups on her it could be an advertisement for pull ups.  Perhaps a new design for pullups. if i would drop onto just the girls socks on the hardwood floor this could be an advertisement for either socks, or a floor covering company.  The floor company could state that its floors are so smooth even children will enjoy them.  Even if i do not crop into just her feet it could be used as a floor advertisement because of the toys found in the background.
This advertisement could be changed by removing the smiley face on the red tablet in the drink and removing the product and words at the bottom of the page.  Now with making those changes it could now be an advertisement for a science museum that teaches children about science.  Or i could also remove the words at the top and change them into new fungus found in piping in pennsylvania.  I could also just crop the page to just the child's hands on the counter and add small germs of some sort.  Then this ad could be turned into a lysol or some kind of cleaning product advertisement.

This photo could be an advertisement of a new toy to help kids learn to like vegetables, "Broccoli Buddy."  The broccoli could also be changed into an other toy, such as a bear.  The words and advertisement at the bottom would of course have to be cropped out of the picture first.  This child could also be holding a bottle of stain remover and he loves this so much because it got the stain out of his favorite shirt.

This photo states that the nuggets are so delicious that the child felt the need to lick the plate.  When really this could be changed into a advertisement for edible plates, after i remove the words and bag of chicken at the bottom.  i could also change the plate into a piece of cake and it would then be like the child's first birthday and it then could be an advertisement for a bakery.

The words on the rice crispy treat could be changed into the answers to the test.  That would probably help sell these to older children.  Also you could crop down onto just the rice krispy treat and write a special note on it such as i love rice krispy treats!!
